Selective Laser Sintering 3D Printer: Videos
The prototype at work, timelapsed. Though it runs relatively reliably, there are still problems of salvaged stepper motors overheating and not supplying necessary torque in the powder distribution mechanism and occasionally in the XY translation system.
Printing an Octocat ( Thingiverse item 10367). The powder distribution mechanism functions properly for the first several layers before jamming (the hazard of using salvaged stepper motors). As can be seen, the print and feed pistons continued incrementing, resulting in a couple layers getting condensed. I ran the distribution mechanism by hand for the remainder of the print.
Extracting the completed octocat from the residual print powder.
Printing a sprocket gear.
Demonstration of an abandoned powder distribution mechanism. The rolling cylinder caused compression in the print powder that led to clumping.
